Fairly cheap one but more than enough for my needs. I’ve had some basic welding training but that’s it so I’ll need plenty of practice. Also got a 50l 3hp air compressor the other day. I like having the tools to do most DIY jobs.

As long as you have Nissan Micras around that welder will see plenty of use.

That’s exactly why I ordered it haha.

Not much below what I work with - 4 power settings as it has are what I’d consider the dead minimum for being able to work with different thicknesses. I’d recommend using gas with it if you can for thin stuff (if a gas kit is available) and getting a proper helmet - that hand-held face guard business is for the birds.

I probably won’t bother dealing with gas to be honest but I will upgrade to a decent quality mask. My grandad got welders flash once and is insistent about welding safety.

How much was that welder? My harbor-freight-tier two-power-level welder is kind of a piece.

Awesome! Welding is something I would love to learn. Sadly i doubt my landlord would look very highly on it. Gonna service the Honda next weekend and have to be super careful not to spill any oil or brake fluid otherwise ill be in the poop.
Good luck - I look forward to seeing the super sexy slow-mo videos of perfect blue welding in no time :D

More like not at all sexy clusters of booger welds haha. I’m not what you’d call experienced at welding...

I’d advocate going for gas if you can afford it. Flux core wire costs more so you can offset the costs against that (although it will still be more expensive as you need to hire a bottle from BOC).
Much, much easier to get welds that work though. Saves a lot of frustration.

I’ll be working outside the whole time so gas may not even be particularly effective.

Hmmm, if you're in a place that's breezy the gas does blow away meaning you have to wait for the wind to drop to weld. Probably the only time I'd think that flux core would be the better option...

Yeah its pretty much my only option, I cant fit a car in my grandparents garage so everything gets done on a driveway.

Yeah me too half the time. I’ve been spoilt by a garage with a hard floor while I was fixing the Citroen though and it makes a hell of a difference :S
Looking forward to how this progresses :)

I treated myself to one for this service. You sir are spot on. No spillage at all even including removing the filter.
